‘Jurassic World’ Passes $1 Billion in Earnings

Certain milestones and achievements in the film industry are celebrated more than others. While some records are regularly broken, others seem destined to stand the test of time. With the movie industry being dominated by super hero films, other films need to do something different to stand out from the pack. Recent events have proven that a once successful movie franchise can tap into the good feelings that movie watchers remember and do something amazing says Sergio Cortes on Facebook.

According to Korea Times, “Jurassic World” managed to pass the one billion dollar global box office mark in just thirteen days. The length of time represents a large improvement over “Furious 7,” which took seventeen days to eclipse the billion dollar earnings mark. Not a bad job by a few computer animated dinosaurs and some human counterparts. “Jurassic World” is the fourth entry into the Jurassic Park franchise, and it has taken the box office by storm already becoming the highest grossing opening film and highest grossing second weekend film.

While another film will likely manage to best the less than two week record, the fact that the film offered something besides super heroes and villains fighting for the fate of the world could be the key to the success of the film. The adventure taps into the fascination with dinosaurs and offered audiences something different than what was seen on screen over the past few years. Of course, there will be a sequel or two in the coming years, which could be even bigger.
