An Amibitious Couple's Blog Experiment

Co-Existence of Technology and Fashion.

Technology has been a major player in other fashions to ensure that we are well protected. Many people may view wearing of bike protection gear as old fashioned. For this reason, Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin developed an individual system known as the Airbag for Cyclists that cyclists wear the system around the neck. In case of an impact, an airbag snaps out of the neckwear system creating a mechanism that protects the cyclist’s head from any injuries. Unlike helmets that do not offer a good visibility of the surrounding, neckwear enables an individual to see the surrounding precisely before impact.

Ashwin Rajan and Kevin Cannon also created Frontline Gloves that provide protection to firefighters. The Frontline Gloves enables the firefighters to communicate to each other on relevant information by use of simple hand gestures. The firefighters can use the gloves to let others know when to evacuate scene or to tell others that everything is under control. The advancement has made firefighting and saving lives easier.

Environmental Friendliness

Many designers have come up with ways to recycle unusable materials to produce fabulous fashions. For instance, SegraSegra recycled the worn out inner tubes of bicycles to generate fancy jackets and t-shirts. Emma Whiteside also used recycled radiator copper to create a long gown.

A combination of technology and fashion can be used to generate energy. The modern clothing can be used to trap kinetic energy. The movement which is changed to kinetic energy is used to power devices such as an mp3 and a watch. In a few years to come, one can be able to charge his/her phone by use of a prototype for shoes that Soledad Martin is working on. The shoes can produce energy as one walks or runs.
