Andrea McWilliams has been a significant player in the Texas political scene since she became Chief of Staff at the age of 21. Based in Austin, she is a well-known lobbyist, strategist and political fundraiser. She is also the founder of McWilliams Governmental Affairs Consultants, where she currently works with her husband and co-founder, Dean McMilliams. This full-service, government affairs consultancy firm works with clients across both sides of the political divide to craft policy in various regulatory and legislative arenas. Prior to founding her firm, Andrea honed her skills in private-sector grassroots mobilization at Public Strategies Inc., the legendary public relations firm. She has blended her experiences in both the public and private sectors to become one of the top lobbyists in the country today.


Andrea has received a number of accolades for her work in the political field. The Austin Business Journal named her Texas’top lobbyist in 2009. She received the Texas Businesswoman Finalist Award from the Texas Women’s Chamber of Commerce in 2016. Andrea has also received accolades from the GirlScouts of Central Texas and the American-Statesman, among others. Further, she has been featured as a political commentator on national media channels like CNN, BBC, Newsweek, FOX News, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal.


Her most notable contribution to Texan politics was her assistance in passing legislation that provided a 100 million dollars in incentives to ensure the construction of a coal power plant in the state. This plant traps carbon emissions, ensuring it is very environmentally friendly. She has also been at the forefront of national news by leading the fundraising efforts for George Bush’s presidential campaign. Further, Andrea made the headlines as a vocal supporter of Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign in 2016.


McWilliams is also a dedicated philanthropist. She sits on the board of a number of nonprofit organizations like the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Mamma Jamma Ride, Children in Crisis, and the Mexi-Arte Museum among many others. She is credited with raising millions of dollars towards those who have breast cancer. She received the Style Setter Award in 2016 for her work with nonprofit organizations. She also regularly acts as a business mentor for young women in Central Texas.
