The 2017 New York Fashion Week shows were no exception. Several designers from all over the globe have entered their designs. Some are inspired by nature, others even by grief. Some are from China, some from New York and Los Angeles. Some feature stark black and white designs, others blue denim, others still, soft texturing.

For the Fall 2017 Fashion Week Show, The School of Fashion at the Academy of Art University held its 21st runway show in early September at Skylight Clarkson Square, where style is the key word. This season, ten recent graduates debuted five collections for women and two for men.

Among the looks were an outerwear design using vinyl and PVC offering practicality and sustainability. With recyclables still on the mind, bicycles tubes and organic denim outfits were created by a San Francisco designer. Another interesting collection was by a Chicago born menswear designer who was lured to the textures of cashmere, light wool and lambskin leather. Her work was inspired by her ancestors fleeing Palestine and leaving all their material possessions behind.
