Perry Mandera knows how to combine Business, the Entrepreneurial Spirit and Philanthropy

Perry Mandera is a businessman and philanthropist. In addition to being a pioneer in the transportation industry Mandera is committed to helping others. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves and he was assigned to the motor pool, learning to drive a truck. He received an honorable discharge and went to work for several transportation companies. He established his own business in 1980 and sold the company in 1985. Mr. Mandera is interested in politics. He was the Ward Committeeman for the Republican Party for Chicago’s 26th Ward from 1984 until 1988.

In early 1986, Mandera established The Custom Companies, Inc. and serves many customers including small businesses that are family owned to Fortune 500 Companies. The company is a full service transportation provider and offers logistic services, as well as domestic and international air freight forwarding services, dedicated contract cartage and U.S. bonded custom warehousing and distribution center.

Perry Mandera received recognition as one of the “Top 100 American Transportation Executives of the Millennium,” by the Illinois Transportation Association (ITA). He now serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the organization.

Mandera has donated time, energy and financial resources to a variety of charitable organizations on behalf of himself and The Custom Companies. Organizations benefitting from the philanthropic efforts include Cancer Cures and Prevention organization, Veterans, youth and children’s organizations. The Custom Companies provided relief for victims of the hurricane that struck Washington, Illinois in 2013 by providing supplies, as well as transportation services an effort that was a proud moment for Mandera.

In addition to being very involved and supportive of his community, Mandera is also a sports fan; Perry Mandera coached youth sports including football, basketball and baseball. He has also managed Olympic boxing contenders Donnell Nickelson and Irish Andy Lee.
