Background on the Health Startup Elysium Health

Elysium Health is health company that is working to translate advances in science and technology into clinically-validated products that work. Elysium  was co-founded by Dr. Leonard Guarente. Dr. Guarente serves as the director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research at MIT, in addition to his responsibilities as chief scientist of the company. The mission of the Elysium is to help people live healthier, longer.

Under the direction of their expert scientific team, Elysium Health has created a new supplement—Basis, which aims to support cellular health by increasing levels of a coenzyme called NAD+. NAD+ is an essential component to the proper operation of circadian rhythms, energy creation, and DNA health.

This new supplement, called Basis, which is based on 25 years of aging research, utilizes two specific compounds—pterostilbene and nicotinamide riboside—which, when in concert, increase levels of NAD+. A clinical trial conducted in 2016 proved that Basis increases and sustains levels of the coenzyme in humans by an average of 40 percent when taken over the course of several weeks.

Basis is vegetarian, vegan, nut-free, and gluten-free, allowing you to stick to your dietary needs while taking the supplement.

If you would like to include Basis in your daily routine, visit Elysium Health’s website. The company sells Basis in a variety of monthly subscriptions. A standard monthly subscription costs $50 each month. Longer subscriptions cost more upfront but offer discounts on the monthly rate.

To put Basis in stores, Elysium Health has partnered with the tech retailer b8ta. Visit one of nine b8ta stores across the country to pick up a jar of Basis now through the end of June.

To learn more about Elysium Health, the company’s team of scientists, and the science behind Basis visit Elysium’s website. Elysium is developing new products that focus on the microbiome, cognitive health, skin health, muscle function, and circadian rhythms. These products are in various stages of pre-clinical and clinical trials.
